If your Smiths (AKA Jaeger) tachometer is working, and all you want to do is recalibrate it, this calibrator can be used to calibrate a Smiths Tachometer at an extremely accurate single frequency (RPM).  As the components inside of these old tachometers age and the values drift, they are in constant need to tweaking to keep them accurate.  This calibrator can also be used to debug broken tachs by driving them with a known signal.  This calibrator can not be used to repair tachometers that have lost calibration across other RPM ranges.  It requires the use of a well regulated 12 volt power supply capable of supplying at least 1 amp of current, such as a charged car or motorcycle battery.  The Single Frequency Stand-alone Smiths Tachometer Calibrator will drive your V8 tachometer to 1500 RPM, your 6 cylinder tachometer to 2000 RPM and your 4 cylinder tachometer to 3000 RPM for easy calibration.
